PORSCHE TRAVEL EXPERIENCE

Northeast Tour

Fall in New England is on every wayfarer’s list. These months are alive with transitioning forestry and colors: bursting reds, oranges and yellows. This once-in-a-year turn is the backdrop to a New York-Vermont vacation that starts in Lake George, and moves north to Lake Placid, home of the “Miracle on Ice” Olympics of 1980. We’ll explore parts of the Adirondack Park before crossing Lake Champlain via ferry. Vermont awaits, with its large collection of covered bridges, shops and antique stores.  The tour is led by the Porsche Track Experience Instructor team, allowing you to relax and enjoy the combination of amazing Porsche vehicles, roads and company.

  1. Day 1:Arrival and Welcome Reception: Sagamore Resort, Bolton Landing, Lake George, NY

After arriving at Albany International Airport (ALB) you’ll make your way via private car service to the AAA Four Diamond Sagamore Resort. Like all of the accommodations on the trip, it represents the best of the area. Once settled into this luxurious resort, you’ll enjoy a welcome reception, meet your driving instructors and, along with your fellow travelers, raise a toast to the thrilling week ahead.

  2. Day 2:Bolton Landing to Mirror Lake Resort, Lake Placid, NY

Experience a New York State of mind on the drive on the Adirondack Northway to Lake Placid. The 6-million acre Adirondack Park is the largest park in the contiguous United States, and well worth exploring. Marvel at its forestry and leaves, which will be near their peak this time of year. We’ll drive through Keene and Keene Valley and pass the US Olympic Training Facility on our way to Lake Mirror Resort.

  3. Day 3:Lake Placid to High Peaks Area; back to Mirror Lake Resort

We’ll drive around the heavily concentrated 46 high peaks of the Adirondack Mountains, a large bucolic loop that features Saranac, Indian and Long Lakes. We’ll stop at the Wild Center at Tupper Lake, a popular destination that tells the story of the region’s unique natural environment.  The Boreas River and Valley form part of our loop to the south and lead us back on to the Northway and the resort for some relaxation and meditation before dinner.

  4. Day 4: Lake Placid to Woodstock Inn, Woodstock, VT

From New York, Vermont is our destination this day. We drive east through the Jay and Giant Mountain Wilderness areas to Essex, NY on the west side of Lake Champlain. Following our half-hour ferry crossing, we arrive in Charlotte, VT and drive towards the Green Mountains and the historic village of Waterbury.  Expect to see covered bridges, shops and antique stores. We’ll arrive at the charming and historic Woodstock Inn for two nights of hospitable accommodations.

  5. Day 5:Woodstock, VT to Covered Bridge loop; back to Woodstock Inn

Spending two nights in Woodstock affords us plenty of drive time or the option to remain and bask in resort hospitality. We’ll target Vermont’s vibrant colors and covered bridges which provide perfect photo opportunities for our group. We drive to Killington Pass and White River Junction before returning to the Woodstock Inn for more resort time and dinner in town. We’ll also have time to shop and explore the nearby Billings Farm Museum.

  6. Day 6:Woodstock, VT to Sagamore Resort, Bolton Landing

Our penultimate travel day features some of the most majestic driving roads in the east. We drive Northwest towards the south end of Lake Champlain, crossing the Crown Point Bridge at historic Chimney Point. Back in New York, we’ll pass barns, farms and stands known for tasty milk, cheese and cider donuts. From Crown Point, we continue south to Fort Ticonderoga, formerly Fort Carillon, of strategic importance during the French and Indian war and later colonial conflicts between Great Britain and France. We drive along the west side of Lake George and return to the start of our tour, the Sagamore Resort, for our finale dinner, a sunset celebration and some sad farewells.

  7. Day 7:Program Concludes: Shuttles to Albany (Depart from ALB)

We’ll be sorry to see our time in the North Country come to an end. You will have captured new memories, made new friends, and likely developed a whole new appreciation of the Northeast. Before long, you might decide it’s time to start planning your next trip with Porsche Travel Experience USA. If you haven’t already experienced it, consider our Porsche Travel Experience Southeast or Lake Tahoe Tours.
